The Belly Shave is a great option for long-haired cats that mat easily in the belly area. A professional cat groomer can perform this service as part of a regular grooming appointment. Shaving the belly helps to prevent matting in the belly area of long-haired cats when included in a grooming appointment every 6 to 8 weeks.
The Belly Shave is an extended sanitary trim. It includes shaving under the tail and around the rectum, between the rear legs and extends up the belly area to the armpits of the front legs. You can get a half or full belly shave. While walking, the belly shave is not visible from the front or sides of the cat. The pictures and diagram above show this trim close-up.
